Last weekend, my mom and I flew with Maverick to Seattle, Washington. My brother and Aiden picked us up at the airport and drove us to Tacoma, where we stayed for 5 days. Maverick was a trooper, and he did great on the airplane! He played with his toys, flirted with the flight attendants, and was recognized by several people in the airport- "look! It's Maverick from the newspaper!" It was so good to see Nathan, Diane and Aiden! Diane is pregnant (with a baby girl!!!! yay!!!) and looks great! Aiden is just as cute and smart as ever, and he was such a good big cousin! He shared his toys and gave Maverick at least 10 hugs a day! Maverick spent the weekend staring at Aiden and trying to keep up with him. He learned the word "no" and kept saying it on the plane ride home! And...drum role...he took his first steps!! He took 2 steps on Saturday, November 14th, and 1 step on Sunday. My mom kind of tricked him into it (she let go of him when he was walking), and Maverick doesn't like to be told what to do! So he promptly sat down and pouted, refusing to get up again! It will probably be a few more weeks before he is off on his own...
My uncle Ron visited us from Seattle, and drove us to Port Townsend for the day, where Maverick got to see the ocean!! Nate Gildersleeve and his girlfriend drove up from Portland to spend the night with us, and my friend Brittany Henshaw came down from Seattle to hang out. Maverick had a great time, and his favorite part of the whole trip was the stairs!! He loved climbing the (steep) staircase to the second floor of the house. We would carry him back down and he would promptly climb back up. What a fun game for all!
We made sure Mav drank something as the plane took off and landed so his ears would pop!
Maverick slept on his Grandma's lap on the plane.
Because his own kitty is so nice to him, Maverick assumes all cats will be!
Luckily, Gizmo and Grommet were pretty nice!
Mav and Grandma
He got upset when he couldn't keep up with Aiden!
Those boys were so much fun!
The boys liked to wrestle, but Maverick is a little too rough!
He liked to bop Aiden on the head!
Port Townsend:
We saw these deer right outside our car window! But Maverick was too sleepy from the trip to care!
Aiden has a toy guitar and Maverick LOVED it! He rocked out and DANCED all weekend!
I wish we would have had it for his Elvis costume!
